If you haven’t heard of the infamous Smile Sciences, then it might be because you’ve stayed away from following the seemingly hundreds of Instagram influencers who are constantly plugging this product online. Across the board, it is hard to find an honest Smile Sciences review from these influencers, who are obviously being paid a decent amount of money to plug the product.
So, if you’ve been thinking about maybe trying out the product or are just curious to know whether it works or not, we did a little digging to find out if it really is worth it to purchase.
First things first, for those that aren’t familiar, here is a Smile Sciences review.
What is Smile Sciences?
Smile Sciences is a teeth whitening product that uses a molded mouth tray and LED lights to activate a gel that contains 12 percent hydrogen peroxide. There main differentiating point is that they cost less than going to the dentist to get your teeth whitened, but does it actually effectively work?
Smile Sciences Review — Does it Work?
The key takeaway from Smile Sciences description should be the fact that they use 12 percent hydrogen peroxide in their gel. This is the main ingredient in any teeth whitening solution that will do the most damage against discoloration.
In other words, the more hydrogen peroxide, the better a teeth whitening solution will be for dramatically changing the teeth color and for keeping it that way for a longer period of time.
How does that 12 percent stack up against other products on the market?
Well, in-office solutions usually contain anywhere from 25 to 40 percent hydrogen peroxide, while store-bought methods have around 10 percent. Therefore, Smile Sciences actually is near the bottom in terms of strength.
However, there are some reviews out there by non-Instagram influencers who have said that the product works (with a 4 out of 5-star rating on their Facebook page). This is most likely the case — that for some people out there, Smile Sciences has produced results. However, at $300 per whitening kit, it’s hard to say if it’s worth it when you can get similar results from cheaper products.
In addition, there are also plenty of reviews stating that their experience with Smile Sciences was not a positive one.
Just like with any product that uses a smaller amount of hydrogen peroxide, you will have varying results depending on what caused the discoloration to begin with and the degree to which your teeth are discolored.
Our Recommendation – Go With What is Tried, True, and Tested
We highly recommend going through a professional dentist when it comes to improving the quality of your teeth, both from a functional standpoint and a cosmetic one.
At Wayzata Dental, we offer three different kinds of teeth whitening methods to our patients, each with proven results:
Boost Whitening
This in-office whitening treatment uses Opalescence Boost which works to help ensure a white smile. If you want a brighter smile without the wait, then this is the perfect solution for you, as it takes less than an hour.
Take-Home Whitening
If you’d rather take care of your whitening at your own convenience, then this method is a great option. Your cosmetic dentist will provide you with your own personal, customized tray which you will use with a whitening formula. The process may take as little as two weeks for desired results.
Nite White Teeth Bleaching
If you don’t have the time to while you’re awake to whiten your teeth, you can do it while you sleep with Nite White Teeth Bleaching! If you don’t have time for an in-office visit, or if you don’t have time in your day to use whitening trays, Nite White is a great solution.
